Chris Pratt, Jurassic World Trailer, Universal Pictures Property

Trailer Alert: The Jurassic World Teaser Trailer is EPIC

Update: Check out this old video of Chris Pratt predicting his role in Jurassic World.

We were supposed to be getting a Jurassic World trailer on Thanksgiving during the 49ers-Seahawks NFL football game on NBC. Thanks to unknown circumstances (I think it was probably to distance itself from the Star Wars trailer set to premier this weekend) Universal Pictures dropped it today, and it blew up the interwebs. First off it's an excellent teaser trailer, with call backs to the original films while creating a definitely new vibe. Jurassic World takes place 22 years after the events of the first film on Isla Nublar, not only is the park open but it is thriving. After a while though people are getting bored with the attractions, so geneticists cook up a brand new Dino and almost instantly it begins to reign terror on the park. The teaser has a little bit of everything, showing new characters, including the Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer(Arrested Development, Archer), Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3), Nick Robinson (Kings of Summer), and returning from the first film B.D. Wong. Wong most interestingly plays Henry Wu, a major character in Michael Crichton’s novel whom only appears in one scene in Jurassic Park. Jurassic World is directed by Safety Not Guaranteed helmer Colin Trevorrow and is being executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Trevorrow enlisted the help of the company that used to be run by the late great Stan Winston, which means the film will include animatronic dinosaurs. None of those are seen in the trailer possibly because the film has not yet finished the editing process. According to Trevorrow’s Twitter account some of the shots in the trailer were created just for the trailers and the film will have less CGI. For me, I am as excited for Jurassic World as I would be for any of the major summer blockbusters that it will be competing with in 2015. Check out the teaser trailer below and let me know what you think in the comments.
