Director J.C. Chandor made a movie with two of Hollywood's hottest actors, Oscar Isaac (Star Wars Episode IV, Inside Llewyn Davis) and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar) called A Most Violent Year. The film takes place in New York City in 1981 which is statistically one of the most violent years in the cities history. According to IMDB The film "is centered on a the lives of an immigrant and his family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities as the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built". 

A Most Violent Year hits theaters New Years Eve making it right at the deadline for awards season mayhem.
