Star Wars VII Already In Production, Casting News Coming Soon

Written by Steven Panzarella(@ProCreateSteve)

The casting news for Star Wars VII has been few and far between, we know very little about the cast and we know very little about the movie in general. THR learned a little more in a recent interview with Disney Chairman Alan Horn. Horn revealed that Disney had no intention in going ahead with Star Wars VII until the script was perfect. Well according to Horn the script is perfect because production has already begun. In fact, casting may not be complete as Horn dodged questions about the cast but did admit that it has already begun filming. We know (or are 90% sure) that Adam Driver will be taking a villainous role in the film, and we know that a number of side characters including Peter Mayhew as Han Solo’s friend and furry ally Chewbacca will be returning. We also know that at one point members of the original cast had all agreed to take part. Everyone from Anthony Daniels (C3PO) to Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams were all going to be part of the cast. A scenario that is beginning to look less and less likely as they put off casting announcements, and the rumors have officially went away. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) was originally writing the script but was excused from the project after J.J Abrams and Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan took it over. Star Wars VII is expected in theaters December 2015, and I can only imagine the studio wouldn’t hold out on casting news for much longer (fingers crossed).
