Must Watch: 3 Part Dawn of the Planet of The Apes Short Fill in 10 Year Gap Between Films

It was safe to say 2011's Rise of The Planet of the Apes was not only a hit but one of the surprising hits of that summer, thanks in large part to the direction of Rupert Wyatt and motion capture acting of Andy Serkis. Dawn of The Planet of The Apes takes place 10 years after the final moments of Rise and introduces a totally new cast of characters. Because of the 10 year gap in between films instead of making the film longer then needed 20th Century Fox teamed up with VICE's Motherboard Production for 3 short films that take place 1 year, 5 years and 10 years following the first film. This doesn't fill us in on the story at hand when Dawn of the Planet of The Apes begins but it does show us how the world at large is fairing during the Simian Flu outbreak.
Short #1-Quarantine- A father and daughter begin to see the effects of the Simian Flu after their mother is infected and put into Quarantine.
Short 2-All Fall Down- 5 years later a young girl is scavenging for supplies to stay alive as the world around her is falling apart.
Short #3-Story of The Gun- Follows one gun as it travels owner to owner, life is in shambles and everyone has turned to violence to stay alive.
The Three part series culminates in a trailer for Island of the Apes, a documentary series that has launched on motherboard profiling an island in Liberia that is dominated by lab tested apes. It's a real thing, very interesting!
I am a sucker for viral campaigns and this has not disappointed, a week away from Dawn of The Planet of The Apes and it's hard to not have high expectations for Matt Reeves sequel of Rupert Wyatt's stunning Rise of The Planet of The Apes!
