Lego Movie Sequel Moving Forward with Chris McKay Directing
Written by Steven Panzarella(@ProCreateSteve)
The LEGO Movie was a huge success it made over $350 million worldwide on a $60 million budget and it managed a 96% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I thought it was one of the great animated features in the last 10 years and gave it an A+ rating here, so it's not a real shock that a sequel is moving forward barely months removed from it's release. According to Deadline The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will produce the sequel but Co-Animation director Chris McKay will take control as the director of the film.
McKay has earned plenty of praise as the director of The Robot Chicken series on Adult Swim, and could also get a producers credit as well as being named the director of the film. There is no timetable for the release of The LEGO Movie sequel but there have also been rumors of a spin-off into other Lego properties including "Ninjango". I am very excited to see what they could do in a sequel especially how the movie left off but it looks like Lego could be an exciting franchise if the animators continue to raise the bar as they did in the first film.
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME! Including this film! Watch it here:
