Insidious Chapter 3 Script is Done and Moving Ahead Without Original Director or Stars

Following the success of Insidious: Chapter 2 and The Conjuring Horror movie genius James Wan moved on from the genre, he decided to take the job of directing the next Fast and The Furious movie and said he wasn't going back to the genre that made his name. That's not stopping Wan's right hand man Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious) from continuing the Insidious franchise. Today Whannell told Screen Rant that the franchise is moving forward and the script is officially done for Insidious 3 and they are now working on finding a director. Whannell and Angus Sampson will also reprise their roles as the ghost hunters in the film but Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson who led the first two films will not return. The movie will take place with a different family, could be on the fast track of production after Insidious: Chapter 2 took in over $83 million domestic on a $5 million budget.
For me personally the first two films were scary as hell, they were refreshing additions to the paranormal genre and I thoroughly enjoyed both films. While I am sad to see James Wan go especially after he went 2/2 in the horror department in 2013 with Insidious: Chapter 2 and The Conjuring (One of my favorite horror movies in a long time), I am excited to see what an Insidious Chapter 3 would look like with a new family and not taking place directly after the events of Insidious: Chapter 2. Here’s to hoping they can lock in a good director and attach a quality cast to Whannell’s script. Check out the trailers for the original films below and let me know in the comments if you are even looking forward to Insidious Chapter 3.
